| Published on March 19, 2018

Have you ever thought that working too much can cause you issues? A French baker has been charged $3,600 (around 2.3 lakh) as a fine for not taking a leave from his work. Cédric Vaivre, the baker runs a store named Boulangerie du Lac in a small town located in northeast France. During summers in 2017, he did not take a leave as a lot of tourists visited his town and he never felt like stopping the work even for a day.

He has been fined because France has a law according to which bakeries have to stay shut at least one day in the week. 41-year-old Cedric Vaivre broke this law to meet the demand of the customers. “A few days ago, I received registered mail from the labour inspector following a check of my bakery this summer,” he told to a popular news agency of France. He is trying to put his point that all he wants is to work every day in the summers and he should be allowed to do so.

People from his area have started to support him. He has collected 2500 signatures in his favour and the case is still on hold. It is a very interesting case in which a person has been fined for serving tourists in an area where there is lack of good shops.
