Our favorite festival Diwali is here & we are all decked up with same pomp and excitement. Wait a minute! Is it really the same as it used to be when we were probably in our teens? Well, I don’t think so, because the essence of the festival has drastically changed over the years. Although Diwali still remains a festival close to our hearts, there are few things which you might agree, have changed. We bet, you will feel every aspect we have mentioned below;
More and more “No Cracker messages”
Gone are those days when youngsters used to be fascinated by a variety of crackers. In fact, these days, youngsters are the ones who are most concerned about environment & are giving their 100 percent to spread awareness about growing air pollution. No wonder, we keep seeing “No crackers” message every now and then!
Chhoti dukaan v/s Online dukaan
 People these days rarely prefer chhoti dukaan for their diwali shopping. Thanks to hectic schedules, that they prefer buying everything online. But don’t you think this is unfair to small artisans who actually await the festive season so that their sale shoots up? Well, this is a thought worth pondering upon!
The joy of gifting
 Are people still enthusiastic about creating those personalized and colorful gift hampers, consisting of hand painted diyas or a box of ghee-wale besan laddoos with a small Diwali greeting? Well, we don’t think so! Laziness has conquered people these days & all they prefer is a few clicks on online stores.
Do we actually celebrate
Celebrations were way too different few years back! People used to actually value family get-togethers, lavish feasts, patton ki mehfil (Card games) and a good cracker session. Is it the same now? These days we see people not much interested in socializing; rather, they prefer having a relaxed Diwali & cherish the leaves they get.
Do you even know your Diwali wish?
You might be wishing hundreds of people on Diwali, but do you even know what you are wishing? Do you even read the words carefully? Huh! Who has the time to do so? Forwards Zindabaad! Yes, most people have started relying on forward messages rather than actually curating a special one for a special someone. People need to follow the saying “Original toh original hota hai”. Thankfully, Vodafone is trying to make a positive change this year with its Diwali campaign. As a part of the #YourWordsNotForwards campaign, Vodafone has launched a digital video that shows the importance of personalized greetings on Diwali. What other things do you feel have changed?
