7 Ads That Celebrate Women & Shatter Stereotypes Around Them

| Published on December 16, 2021

Women have been portrayed in usual and cliché roles for over a long period of time. But many brands have attempted to shatter existing stereotypes around women. As women are breaking barriers professionally and taking on the world, their struggles definitely deserve acknowledgement. Presenting seven ads that have successfully broken stereotypes and highlighted present-day women beautifully.

1. Anouk- Bold Is Beautiful, the Calling

What does one say about an ad that features some superb actors like Shernaaz Patel and Radhika Apte? To add to it, the story is thought-provoking and conveys the message in a poignant manner. A pregnant woman is not judged on the basis of her performance but her pregnancy for a certain management decision, after which she takes her bold move of starting her own venture. The ad is a classy reminder of the thought ‘Bold Is Beautiful’ and will resonate with audiences for years.

2. Titan Raga #HerLifeHerChoices

The ad shows a confident, modern and progressive woman who knows how to make her decisions and stick by it. The charming Nimrat Kaur has given a stellar performance in this 1 min 16 second ad.

3.Airtel-Boss

This ad depicts how a woman knows how to balance her work and personal life. Though in office her husband is her junior and with no qualms about it, the couple are shown to be equals in their personal life. This was a refreshing angle to watch.

4.Havell’s-Hawa Badlegi

The ad shows a couple getting a registered marriage after which the husband decides to adopt his wife’s surname.

5.Saffola Gold – Stress

The ad does a reverse take on gender roles and has the husband caring for his wife who is working tirelessly. A good empathetic take on how even men should be responsible for their partner’s health.

6. Dove-Stop The Beauty Test

The ad is a beautiful representation of what still happens with a lot of women in the country. Outer appearances are still judged while matchmaking and often it’s the women who bear the brunt of such practices. The ad showed real women and not models to represent the concept in a thought-provoking manner.

7. Ariel- #ShareTheLoad

The ad urges mothers to teach their sons to share household responsibilities, so that they can be equal partners in future.
