Dr. Prakash Baba Amte is a social worker from Maharashtra. In 2008 Amte and his wife, Mandakini Amte, were awarded the Magsaysay Award for ‘Community Leadership’ for their philanthropic work. In November 2019 he was awarded ICMR Lifetime Achievement Award by Bill Gates.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte – The Real Hero was the biopic made on his life’s work starring Nana Patekar in 2014. Prakash Baba Amte did not accept any money from the filmmakers for showing his life story.

Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin was a middle-order batsman and captain of the Indian cricket team in 47 tests and 174 one day matches during the 1990s. In 2016, the Azhar movie was released which was his life story and depicted the situations around the match-fixing allegations on him. Mohammad Azharuddin did not take any money to share his life’s story.

Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh is an Indian former track and field sprinter who was introduced to the sport while serving in the Indian Army. In 2013, Bhaag Milka Bhaag was released to honor his achievements for which Milkha Singh charged only Rs 1.

Laxmi Agarwal

Laxmi Agarwal is an Indian acid attack survivor, a campaigner for the rights of acid attack victims, and a TV host. In 2020, Chhapaak was released which depicts how Laxmi, played by Deepika Padukone, was attacked and her journey since then.

Laxmi was paid Rs 13 lakhs by the movie makers for sharing her life story.

Paan Singh Tomar

Subedar Paan Singh Tomar was an Indian soldier, athlete, and later, an outlaw. In 2012, Irfan Khan portrayed the role of Paan Singh Tomar in his biopic for which his nephew received Rs 15 Lakhs allegedly.

Mary Kom

Mary Kom is an Indian boxer and incumbent Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. Priyanka Chopra starrer biopic on Mary Kom’s life was released in 2014 for which she received Rs 25 Lakhs.

Sanjay Dutt

Sanju, a 2018 Indian biographical drama film displayed Sanjay Dutt’s struggle with drugs and the legal battles that he went through. In exchange for the rights of his story, Sanjay Dutt received Rs 9 crores and a portion of the box office profits.
