Employees Who Became Millionaires After Working At Indian Tech Startups

ESOPs have proved to be nothing short of motivational in retaining employees, especially at startups. As per a report, around 32 startups have spent Rs 3000 crore to buy back stock options from employees. And also, one in every three startups that had this ESOPs buyback was valued over $1 billion this year.

According to Longhouse Consulting, Flipkart has the largest ESOP pool. Followed by Oyo, Zomato and Paytm. The other brands include names like Swiggy, ShareChat, UpGrad, Nykaa etc..

Here is a list of 20 employees and their shareholding value over Rs 100 crore(in no particular order)

1.Harinder Takhar


The CEO at Paytm Labs’ shareholding amount to Rs 413 crore.

2. Gunjan Patidar


The Chief Technology Officer at Zomato’s shareholding amounts to Rs 363 crores.

3. Nihir Parikh


CEO of NykaaMan-Nykaa, Nihir Parikh has a shareholding value amounting to Rs 245.11 crore

4. Mohit Gupta


The Head of New Businesses at Zomato has shareholdings of about Rs195 crore.

5. Gaurav Gupta


The former Head of Supply and now elevated to co-founder of Zomato has shareholdings amounting to Rs 179 crore.

6.Vikas Garg


The Chief Financial Officer at Paytm has shareholdings of Rs 148 crore.

7. Akshant Goyal


Chief Financial Officer at Zomato has a shareholding value amounting to Rs 114 crore.

8. Ankit Kwatra


Founder of Zomato Feeding India has a shareholding value of Rs 105 crore.

9. Saurabh Tiwari


The Chief Technology Officer at Policybazaar has shareholding value amounting to Rs 120.8 crore.

10. Maninder Gulati


The Global Chief Strategy Officer at OYO has shareholding value amounting to Rs 107 crore.

11. Abhinav Sinha


The Global Chief Operating Officer and Chief Product Officer at OYO has the highest shareholding value amounting to a whopping Rs1100 crore.

CEO Private Labels at Nykaa’ shareholding value amounts to Rs 249.75 crore.

13. Akriti Chopra


People Development Head, later elevated to co-founder in 2021 at Zomato, Akriti’s shareholding value amounts to Rs 149 crore.

14. Surobhi Das


Surobhi who has served various positions and is now the Head of Customer experience at Zomato has shareholdings in the company amounting to Rs 179 crore.
