How Internshala Grew Into A Profitable Upskilling Platform Over The Years

| Published on July 21, 2022

What started as a simple blog turned into a profitable business for the online upskilling platform, Internshala. The company was established in 2010 and has now become one of the leading internship portals in India. Here’s highlighting the company’s journey in 12 years.

New Beginnings

In 2010, Internshala was just a blog launched by Founder Sarvesh Agarwal. There, he advised students and newbies in the industry to revamp their resumes in accordance with different recruitment processes. Somehow, there was also a section where students got tips and tricks to land their first internships to facilitate a good job opportunity.

Internships | Marketing Mind

This idea soon turned into the brand’s vision, and Agarwal decided to shift from a blog-based platform to one where students could apply to industries from leading companies in the country. Agarwal is an IIT Madras alumnus and also the founder of Naukri.com.

This was further facilitated by a speaker note by Agarwal at IIT Madras in 2011 after which he received his first organic listing via the startup incubating process at IIT Kanpur.

In 2015, the company raised $2.5 million in Series A funding.

Internshala’s Growth by 2022

In the present scenario, the company has more than 2 million active students on the platform. More than 60K brands have listed internship opportunities via the platform helping the brand generate Rs. 20 crores worth of revenue in the last fiscal year alone.

Last year, every intern earned approximately Rs. 6,000 per internship. The demand for paid internships has ensured that Indian students can make the most of their time and efforts while applying for recognisable positions.

Some student users have come back later with recruitment opportunities on the platform.

Have you tried Internshala for yourself or recommend the platform to any of your friends?
