Ice Cream Man Charges Influencers Double Because They Keep Asking For Free Ice Creams

| Published on July 8, 2019

“Influencer” is any person with the ability to influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting or recommending the items on social media.

The increasing trend of social media has given rise to many self-made and self-claimed Influencers which are known to make the best use of their social media existence and popularity. While these social media influencers are timely approached to collaborate with by brands, they are also at many occasions known to go around asking for freebies in exchange of social media post or stories around the same.

So when an ice cream vendor got tired and fed up with these influencers who asked him for freebies, he instead decided to charge them double. Hats off!

CVT Soft Serve based Los Angles also took to social media to share it’s new policy that said “ask for a free cone and you must pay double.”

‘We’ve decided to make this thing official with signage,’ the caption said. ‘We truly don’t care if you’re an Influencer, or how many followers you have. We will never give you a free ice cream in exchange for a post on your social media page. It’s literally a $4 item…well now it’s $8 for you. #InfluencersAreGross.’

We couldn’t care less about how many followers you have, and we’re super embarrassed for you when you tell us.

The ice cream company continued the blast against influencers and posted yet another post on their social media that read, “‘We couldn’t care less about how many followers you have, and we’re super embarrassed for you when you tell us.”

CVT co founder Joe Nicchi in an interview said,

“LA is full of so-called ‘influencers’ with large followings that are actually fake because they most likely paid for likes and follows. Anyone can have a following if they want to pay for it. Google ‘social media bots.’

The 2019 version of ‘Do you know who I am?’ is ‘I’m an influencer,’ but without the talent.”

The new policy was well received by the followers who praised the company for their “no influence discount”.

With CVT already having customers like Bill Murray, we believe there is already not much need of any influencers!

CVT – Chocolate Vanilla Twist was founded in 2012 by Nicchi and his wife Taylor and their menu simply offers chocolate or vanilla ice cream, or a combination of the two. So you know where to head when you’re in LA and craving a scoop of deliciousness.
