In Three Ways How AI And ChatGPT Will Benefit People, According To Bill Gates

| Published on February 10, 2023

Bill Gates is “excited” with ChatGPT and the advances made in artificial intelligence in the previous year, he adds in a recent interview.

The Microsoft cofounder discussed several possible applications for AI-powered technologies, if it’s ChatGPT or its competitors, and disclosed how he’s been playing with the famous chatbot himself.

According to Gate, it’s “quite exciting” to imagine that AI might be “a math teacher accessible to inner city children” or “medical advice available to folks in Africa who, in general, would never be able to see a doctor.”

According to Gate, there are not enough white-collar employees for “good causes” like those, and AI might assist fill that need.

Gates stated that he enjoys using ChatGPT, the interactive AI chatbot, doing “fun things,” such as creating poetry with his pals, even though his major motive for exploring ChatGPT has indeed been “for serious causes.”

He said, “The fact that you can say okay, ‘write it like Shakespeare’ and it does — that creativity has been fun to have,” After reading ChatGPT’s poetry, he concedes that he could not have written anything himself.

Gates said that he still meets with Microsoft’s product teams to discuss AI even though he would be leaving the company’s board of directors in 2020. Microsoft announced recently a multibillion-dollar investment in OpenAI, the Artificial Intelligence research facility that developed ChatGPT. The investment is allegedly $10 billion, and it follows its previous investments in the firm in 2019 and 2021.

Gates stated that he has been engaged in AI since the moment he learned about software and that AI is as old as the Computer and the web.

He revealed to Forbes, that “The idea of computers seeing, hearing and writing is the longterm quest of the entire industry”.

Despite his admiration for ChatGPT’s poetry, Gates described it as “truly imperfect” and “not very intuitive.” He also claimed to have witnessed ChatGPT “totally incorrect” on math questions.

AI, according to Bill Gates, is both a potential and dangerous technology.

According to Gates, “The world hasn’t had that many technologies that are both promising and dangerous the way AI is. We had nuclear weapons and nuclear energy, and so far so good.”

Gates believes that artificial intelligence (AI) may be utilised to tackle critical difficulties in the healthcare business.Gates stated that, “If you give kids in some countries an antibiotic once a year that costs two cents called azithromycin, it saves a hundred thousand lives. I do not believe without machine learning techniques we [would have ever been] able to take the dimensionality of this problem to find the solution.”
