Food delivery apps have it a habit of making into the news and this time, this is for the wrong reason. Often we hear people complaining about the quality of food and delay in the delivery of food but what happened recently has taken such cases into next level.
What makes us write this article is an incident about which a Chennai man has alleged that five people in Ashok Nagar has beaten him because of food reaching him late. The victim, R Balaji, ordered food on Swiggy around 8 pm on last Sunday, and when the delivery boy named D Rajesh Kanna, reached the location after an hour, he ended up having an argument with the customer.
What adds confusion to this situation that the customer was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. The guy claimed he was not well and his father, Dhanasekaran, had to accompany him for the delivery.
Talking about the whole incident, Dhanasekaran, the delivery boy’s father, said in an interview with the New Indian Express that
The delivery got late because Balaji didn’t provide them with the exact location. After the argument came to a climax, Kanna called his friends among whom two are also Swiggy delivery guys. The group of friends came to the location a few minutes later since they were also in the same area.
After that, the customer was beaten up by the group. Balaji even claims that he lost his gold chain during the accident and has lodged a complaint at the police station while Kanna also filed one. The police have released the five accused after a warning.
