For e-sports, it’s been a long journey for Indian participants but it has slowly gaining popularity as many game lovers are turning this hobby into a full-time job. If we talk about the salary of Indian gamers in 2012-13 India Games and Cooler Master were the first to actually initiate salaries and it was around Rs 7,500 to 10,000 but now the situation is changing as companies are not only invest money, but also create brands out of players.

The salary count for a full time gamer is now over Rs 25000-30,000 per month, with additional benefits such as food, rent and electricity. Winning tournaments is very important for these gamers as many companies only pay if they win and if the tournament organiser pays them something in the start, players take it as a bonus. Like in other sports, there are international leagues in which teams are funded by investors and players are sold through auctions.

The salaries haven’t increased much in past 1-2 years but a lot of other benefits such as a gaming house, an in-house cook, high-end computers, have been added so one can say that indirectly the salaries have increased in a way. According to industry sources, due to the entry of big players such as Ronnie Screwvala’s USports and Nazara Games, salaries will increase to as much as Rs 40,000.
