Mumbai’s Street Food Joint Upgrades Itself With ‘Flying Vada Pav’

| Published on March 29, 2021

A number of street food joints across India and the world have mouth-watering dishes coupled with the art of showmanship, which makes the experience quite interesting. From Turkish ice creams to flying paranthas, you might think you’ve seen it all. However, this food joint in Mumbai does its version of flying pavs where the vada is thrown in the air along with its fillings to make each serving a show in itself.

This stall lies at the Bora Bazaar Street of Mumbai, and is called ‘Raghu Dosa Waala’. As per the name, the guy makes all sorts of popular street food choices including South Indian dosas, idlis, and of course, vadas. It has been running for the past 64 years and is quite popular among Mumbaikars for its amazing taste, affordability, and the art of making every dish.

Raghu definitely knows how to put up a show! In this 6 minutes long video, you can see how he does it.

You are taken through the streets, right to Raghu Dosa Waala. He starts by melting butter and adding the chat max to prepare the seasoning. The vadas are tossed together with a spatula and flung in the air. He catches them with his other hand and stuffs the filling, one pav after the other. Your favorite desi veggies including onions, capsicum, cabbage, beetroot, and a load of cheese are added to make it a scrumptious meal.

As far as the price point is concerned, you can have an entire meal around this by filling your appetite with these finger-licking good vadas. We’re sure we would too – with our hunger pangs growing as we elaborate on his famous vada pav.

This video was shared by Aamchi Mumbai, the YouTube channel, and has so far garnered more than 350,000 views and 300 comments.

If you’re in Mumbai, you should head over to his food joint, NOW! Let us know whether the taste lives up to its hype!
