In an initiative to reduce waste caused by plastic wrappers, Nestle India has started an initiative ‘MAGGI Wrappers return’ in which consumers can get a free packet of Maggi they return ten empty packets of Maggi. Until now, it has only been rolled out in Mussoorie and Dehradun.
While talking about this initiative, a spokesperson of Nestle India said that this move is among one the Nestle’s several waste management programs and currently the company has contact with 250 retailers to follow this initiative. “We are hopeful that this will bring about a behaviour change in consumers and help create awareness for responsibly disposing of plastic waste and prevent littering,” he added.
This initiative has been launched after reports exposed that Maggi, along with potato chips, was among the most popular food products and were responsible for a majority of the country’s plastic pollution. This is mainly because their empty packets weren’t properly disposed of in the mountainous area like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
