Reliance Jio, Airtel And Vodafone Troll Each Other On Social Media

| Published on October 14, 2019

Reliance Jio breaks its promise of lifetime free calling!

Reliance Jio’s big announcement about its new calling plan has triggered not just the emotions of many but also some social media trolling. The leading telecommunication and arch-rivals of Mukesh Ambani led Jio, Airtel and Vodafone were seen taking a dig at each other on social media over the same issue.

Soon after Jio announced that it will now be charging 6 paise per minute for voice calls, Airtel and Vodafone took to their respective social media platforms to troll each other.

While Airtel published a short clip that showed an equation that said free is not equal to 6 paise per minute with a caption stating, “For some, unlimited means something else. For us, unlimited voice calls have always meant truly unlimited voice calls. Switch to Airtel now”.

Vodafone Idea, on the other hand, tweeted, “Relax, there will be no charges on Vodafone calls to other networks. So keep enjoying what we promised you – truly free calls on Vodafone unlimited plans.”

But it didn’t take long for Reliance Jio to fire back. Taking a dig at Airtel, Reliance Jio said in a tweet, “6 paise/minute Air Toll” along with a disclaimer “Every time a Jio customer makes an outgoing mobile call to other operator’s customer, 6 paise/minute is paid to the other operator as Interconnect Usage Charges (IUC), as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Regulations.”

It later tweeted,” 6 paise/minute. We ain’t asking for it. They are” along with the above-mentioned disclaimer.

As per Reliance Jio’s new plan, Jio-to-Jio calls will remain free whereas, calls on other networks such as Airtel and Vodafone Idea will now be charged 6 paise per minute – as per TRAI’s IUC norms.
