The popularity of the web series ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story‘ has surged tremendously since its release. Viewers have been bewitched by the realistic portrayal by the characters of the people associated with the scam.

Pratik Gandhi who played Harshad Mehta has especially garnered a lot of popularity as his role has received the most applause.

Apart from him, the series has been a success because of the other actors who did a wonderful job playing their respective characters. Here are the famous characters from the series and the real-life faces associated with them.

Harshad Mehta

Pratik Gandhi has delivered one of the most realistic portrayals of Harshad Mehta in the web series, Scam 1992. His acting skills have been applauded and with this being his first acting project he has surely done an amazing job.

Ashwin Mehta

Hemant Kher has played another pivotal character of Harshad’s older brother, Ashwin Mehta, in Scam 1992. Pratik and Hemant have done an amazing job of playing the role of the infamous ‘Mehta Brothers’.

Maheshwari (Radhakishan Damani)

Maheshwari, played by Paresh Ganatra, is supposedly based on businessman and investor Radhakishan Damani, the founder of DMart. Damani was not accused of any scam, however, he had a connection with Manu Manek and Harshad Mehta. He quit the stock market in the 2000s.

Rakesh (Rakesh Jhunjhunwala)

Kavin Dave plays Rakesh, which is said to be based on Rakesh Jhunjhunwala who today India’s ‘stock market king’.

Manu Mundra (Manu Manek)

Satish Kaushik played the character Manu Mundra which is apparently based on the life of the kingpin of the stock market in the 80s, Manu Manek. He was infamously known as the ‘Black Cobra’.

Ram Jethmalani

Mithilesh Chaturvedi played the role of the late Ram Jethmalani whose legal team fought to protect Harshad Mehta.

Sucheta Dalal

Sucheta Dalal is an Indian journalist who brought the scam to light in 1992 and was later awarded a Padma Shri for journalism in 2006. She was a journalist for The Times of India at the time and she wrote a column exposing the scam in April 1992. In 1992, she published her book about the scam.
