1. UP government eyeing Flipkart to sell Khadi products online

The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to sell khadi products on Flipkart. Earlier, the UP govt signed a MoU with Amazon India to educate and enable khadi artisans to sell their products under the brand ‘UP Khadi’.

2. India’s 1st taxi ambulance startup starts its services in Delhi

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on flagged off Wagon Cab’s services in Delhi. The cabs have facilities such as medical supplies and medically trained drivers. The drivers will approach accident victims as soon as they are notified.

3. UK-based Startup has developed AI which can learn to drive in 20 minutes

A UK-based startup named Wayve has developed an AI system which can learn how to drive a car in 20 minutes. The self-driving system performs its processing on a GPU inside the car. Interestingly, it doesn’t require any cloud connectivity or pre-loaded maps for navigation.

4. Shaadi.com to use Aadhaar numbers to avoid fake accounts

Popular matrimonial platform Shaadi.com has started using Aadhaar numbers to avoid fake accounts. The decision was taken after an online survey, which revealed that 91% of women preferred verified profiles. Shaadi.com’s biggest wants to eliminate the misuses and for that this is a good step.

5. Bengaluru foodtech startup HungerBox raises $4.5 million

Founded in 2015, Bengaluru-based HungerBox has raised $4.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Neoplux and Sabre Partners. Existing investors including Lionrock Capital and Infosys Co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan also participated in this round. HungerBox is a B2B technology startup delivering food solutions for corporates through a mobile app.

6. Paytm buys hotel booking app NightStay Travels

Paytm has bought Delhi-based hotel booking app NightStay Travels for Rs 130 crore. All the employees of NightStay will join Paytm.

7. Mumbai-based Eruditus raises $2.3 million.

Founded in 2010, Eedtech startup Eruditus Executive Education has raised $2.3 million in venture debt from InnoVen Capital. The capital will be used to expand to other international markets. Eruditus offers professional and management development programmes to corporations and professionals from India, Singapore, and other markets.

8. Bengaluru home automation startup Silvan raises Rs 4.5 crore

Founded in 2008, Silvan Innovation Labs has raised Rs 4.5 crore crowd funding platform 1Crowd and existing investor Infuse Ventures. 1Crowd contributed Rs 2.15 crore while the rest came from Infuse Ventures and other investors. Silvan creates IoT-based automation solutions for homes, offices, and hotels.

9. Zomato appoints Mohit Gupta as CEO of food delivery business

The former Chief Operating Officer of MakeMyTrip, Mohit Gupta has been appointed as the CEO of Zomato’s food delivery business. Mohit has spent his last decade building and running travel startups in India.

10. Info Edge, Temasek’s firm to invest $27 million in PolicyBazaar

Info Edge is planning to invest $27.7 million in insurance selling startup PolicyBazaar. PolicyBazaar raised $200 million funding last month led by SoftBank Vision Fund with participation from existing investors.
