Bellies are the prime target of many a weight-loss programs. It is the decision-making factor while buying clothes. Whether you want to cover it up or squeeze it inside shapewear, it is the most concealed part of a woman’s body.

How many times have we sucked our stomachs in while taking a picture or while trying something new on? Answer is many a times. However, with awareness and acceptance, it’s time we embrace who we really are.

And to do the same, Cosmopolitan, with their campaign titled #TheTummySeries, has featured real women with their bodies without photoshop or filters or any kind of editing, on Instagram, to spread the idea that the concept of “a perfect body” is just an illusion, and the making of the unreal virtual universe.

The Campaign

The campaign has 12 women celebrate who they are by being comfortable in their own bodies and spreading the message “All tummies are good tummies”. Women from different walks of life have posted pictures baring their tummies being unapologetic about it. Actors, activists, influencers and authors, have shown that all bellies are different but all are unique and there’s nothing to be shy of.
Rytasha Rathore, Varshita Thatavarthi, Sakshi Sindhwani, Nisha Mansharamani, Ayesha Bilimoria, Sanjana rishi, Sapna Datta, Dolly Singh, Diya Basu, Roshini Kumar, Aanam Chashmawala and Maria Goretti, are the twelve gutsy women who have extended support and their organic pictures are spreading the message of body positivity.

Women go through so much in their life when it comes to their bodies- periods, pregnancy, stress, of which the effects are not only visible on their bodies, but are long lasting too. Stretchmarks, pigmentation the list is endless. And hence it becomes imperative to accept and practice body positivity rather than just being judgmental about it.

Cosmopolitan has surely taken a much-needed correct step in promoting body positivity. This campaign will remind all those women who consider themselves to be not so perfect, that they are uniquely gifted and that no one is perfect, but them!
