‘Toilet-Cafeteria’ Is The New Centre Of Attraction Of Kumbh Mela 2019

It is time for the auspicious event that India is known in the world for. The Kumbh Mela, which is recognized by the UNESCO as an Intangible Site.

A little know-how

It is the city of Prayagraj ( previously known as Allahabad) that is hosting the event of the year. It is also the place of intersection of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Kumbh Mela, also the largest gathering to take place, is known to generate a huge amount of income and employment for the State of Uttar Pradesh. It is also because of the same reasons, this event is used as a catalyst to generate awareness and market sales using unique ideas and opportunities.

The Kumbh Journey

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Yogi Adityanath Government will celebrate the message of cleanliness this time. With the mela, which started on January 15, 2019, accounts a budget of RS 4300 crores. There are 9 zones, 16 districts and 40 police stations in place for the smooth functioning of this mega event. This time, there are around 12 lakh toilets in the 3200-hectare region. To second the cleanliness cause, around 1500 swacchagrahis have also been deployed.

The New twist this time

To raise awareness about health and sanitation, especially since Indian villages are still lacking in those fields, the idea of ‘Toilet-cafeteria’ has been established. It has commode style chairs to portray the message. Along with that, various quotes like, ‘Trip to the toilet will save a trip to doctor’ and ‘don’t forget to wash your hands after a toilet visit’ are written around. It is installed in the Parmarth Niketan Arial Ghat at the venue.

The 55 days Mela, where pilgrims unite is a milestone in the making for India this year. The health and sanitation campaign targets to educate the people, ranging from all strata of society and incomes.
