Top 10 International Airports With Best ‘Safety Travel Scores’

On Sep 3, Safe Travel Barometer, the world’s most comprehensive database for COVID-19 traveler health and safety protocols, has released the Safe Travel Score for airports worldwide.

As per the report, the Safe Travel Score is an industry-first rating initiative, based on an independent audit of more than 200 airports and 20 traveler health and safety measures announced by airports.

Below are the top 10 International airports with a Safe Travel Score from 4.4 to 4.7 out of 5.

1. Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport has emerged as the world’s safest airport in the world. Changi airport has taken several proactive measures, including the implementation of touchless initiatives, sensor-based check-in kiosks, and biometric-based immigration systems to eliminate fingerprint scanning.

2. Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport has just become the first German airport to receive the new “Airports Safe from” quality seal from TÜV Hesse, the technical inspection association of the state of Hesse.

2. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport

China’s Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport stands at the second position with its safety precaution measures.

2. Indira Gandhi International Airport

As per the Safe Travel Barometer (STB), the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi stands at the second position as the safest airport in the world for effective implementation of coronavirus-related health and safety protocols.

3. Abu Dhabi International Airport

Abu Dhabi International Airport is the sole international airport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and is the second largest in the UAE after Dubai International Airport. The airport takes the third position with its Safe Travel Score of 4.5.

3. Dubai International Airport

Sharing the position with Abu Dhabi, Dubai airport also stands in the third position. Major airports in the UAE, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai, have started the thermal screening of passengers.

3. Kempegowda International Airport

Kempegowda International Airport Bangalore is the second Indian airport to make the list. The airport authority has incorporated various measures to ensure the safety of passengers as well as the staff. Thermal cameras have been installed and airport signage being displayed at all the airports.

4. Hong Kong International Airport

Hong Kong International Airport is known to be the fourth busiest airport in the world. However, the airport has been geared up to tackle the COVID19, and there stands fourth with its Safe Travel Score.

4. Beijing Capital International Airport

Airports around China have started screening passengers and immediately admitting those with even the simplest of the symptoms, for special care.

4. Heathrow Airport

At the London Heathrow Airport, enhanced monitoring is in place for all flights. This includes the provision of advice leaflets, social distancing measures, increased hand sanitizer units, complimentary face coverings (required for all passengers), and colleagues. There are also Public Health England (PHE) colleagues and doctors on site.
