The digital ecosystem is evolving very fast as each platform is aiming to provide a complete experience to the users. Started as a messaging app, a lot has changed in WhatsApp with the launch of new updates. From video calling to status options, WhatsApp has now become the powerhouse of useful features.
Meta Chief Mark Zuckerberg has now announced WhatsApp Channels in over 150 countries including India. It is a one-way broadcasting tool to send messages to a large audience.
To promote this new feature, WhatsApp has partnered with multiple celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Neha Kakkar, Vijay Devarakonda, Diljit Dosanjh. Even BCCI has also launched a channel for the Indian Cricket Team on WhatsApp.
When the first roll-out of this Channel option was released, WhatsApp had launched a video campaign that showcased the features and how users can make the most of this new update.
Below are the features that WhatsApp has introduced using Channels:
Users can find channels that they want to follow. These channels will be filtered based on the country.
Users can react using emojis and see the total number of reactions.
Channel admins can make changes to their updates up to 30 days.
If users forward something from channels to chats or groups, it will have a link back to the channel so that others can know about the source and know more details.
