Neha Chandra, a Noida resident, was enjoying her new year vacation in Paris accidentally lost her purse in the metro. Within 20 minutes of time, 3 transactions took place from two of her HDFC Debit Cards and an HDFC Credit Card worth Rs 52,499.99, Rs 44,544.24 and Rs 52,499.99, respectively.

The event traumatized Ms.Chandra, she immediately called HDFC Customer Care and got her cards blocked and transferred the remaining amount to her another HDFC account. After that, she filed an FIR in Paris itself. All the transactions were done in the merchant name of ASHANTI, PARIS 10/FR.

But Ms.Chandra has not received any amount back, yet. She has been asked to get the FIR in the English language that would cost her Rs.8,000 extra. HDFC Bank claims that the woman’s money is safe and other important procedures are on the run to solve the matter.

Such similar events had taken place in the past and one of the solutions is to enquire with the bank and limit your card usage if you’re planning to go abroad. If anything happens, immediately inform the bank to avoid complications, later.
