World’s Strongest Hotel Brands As Per Brand Finance Report

India’s iconic Taj Hotels have been named as the World’s Strongest Hotel Brand by Brand Finance. This, may definitely not come as a surprise to many since their hospitality and service have always been top-notch and their reviews have always been positive. With its extravaganza and a host of replete services that the hotel has to offer, the brand always leaves an impression in the mind of its consumers. It is the most lavish hotel chain that the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) offers, whose subsidiaries also include Vivanta and Ginger.

Taj received an overall Brand Strength Index of 89.3 out of 100. It also received an AAA rating for customer familiarity, employee satisfaction and corporate reputation along with the world-class customer service that it has to offer.

Taj has previously ranked in the 2016 report too and this year, it re-entered the list. With a brand value of $296 million, it made its mark in the annual ‘Hotels 50 2021’ report. It is definitely a moment to be cherished with the Indian hospitality sector forraying its way to the top. For the goodwill that the brand has earned Taj luxury hotel chain also scored very well on Brand Finance’s ‘Global Brand Equity Monitor’. This Monitor takes into consideration key aspects such as the brand’s familiarity, how often it is recommended and the reputation it holds, particularly in its home market.

Incorporated by Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group, the company opened its first hotel – The Taj Mahal Palace, in Bombay in 1903. It currently ranks as the strongest brand across factors such as marketing investment, corporate reputation, customer familiarity and of course, staff satisfaction.

2) Premier Inn

This British hotel chain is the United Kingdom’s largest hotel chain with over 800 hotels. It held the first position in 2020 and currently holds a Brand Strength Index of 88.9 out of 100, with a corresponding AAA rating.

3) Melia Hotels International

A Spanish hotel chain, Melia Hotels International was founded in 1956. It is the country’s largest domestic operators of holiday resorts and holds a Brand Strength Index of 82.9 out of 100.

4) NH Hotel Group

This company is based in Madrid which operates over 350 hotels in 28 countries. NH Hotel Group holds a AAA rating for customer familiarity and holds a Brand Strength Index of 82.0 out of 100.

5) Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts

A Hong Kong-based multinational hospitality company, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has received an overall Brand Strength Index of 81.6 out of 100.

The efforts taken by Taj have led the brand to attain this ranking in the Brand Finance Report across multiple indicators. It definitely showcases the kind of service the brand delivers along with the trust that it has built with its consumers over the years.
